For the Spring Summer 2016 season the BASIL SODA woman decided to take a quick pit stop in a tropical land where she brought along with her elements that she can use in her everyday urban environment.
The BASIL SODA team stuck to their founder’s roots with sharp lines in cuts and silhouettes. The use of stripes was new for the brand and gives a sense of the urban along with the Bird of Paradise as a representation of the tropics. This particular flower was chosen because it suggests precision and joy. Its geometric lines and exuberant colors create a vigorous structure with a soft edge. The colors were chosen based on these sources; from classic black and whites to shocking fuchsia and aqua greensm, with an addition of lavender and blush for a well balanced palette.
Prints were inspired by the entire mood of a tropical urbanite, while embroideries interpreted the Bird of Paradise in a way that adds shimmer and catches light along with the occasional use of plastic fringes and rubber piping to add a modern edge to the mix.
This is the BASIL SODA woman always interested in playing with the codes of classicism and challenging herself with what those codes should be today.
